The Children of David and Mary/Polly Branscomb:
Please check the Author's Notes for an explanation of the numbering system I use for identifying individuals within any family.
The line of descent for Edmond Branscomb:
9. Edmond Branscomb
Edmond Branscomb was b. ca. 1843 Ill., d. 2 March 1863. Did not marry. The 1850 census gives his age as 7 and the place of his birth as Ind., whereas the family had moved from Indiana to Illinois prior to 1840. In 1860 Edmund, age 17, was living in a home headed by James Harper, as was his older brother Wesley.
Edmond was 19 years old when he enlisted in the U. S. Army on 6 September 1862: Company F., 31st Regiment of Illinois Infantry, the same company in which his brothers-in-law John May and Andrew J. May served. Edmond was killed in battle at Memphis on 2 March 1863 (“Echoes from Elvira,” provided by J. D. Thomas). No further information is available for Edmond.
